Eligibility Conditions

Specification / Citizenship

A candidate should be either:

  •  a citizen of India, or
  •  a subject of Nepal, or
  •  the subject of Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or 
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanzanica and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam in India.  Intended to settle permanently.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (B), (C), (D) and (E) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit:

  • For Junior Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Electrical and Mechanical) in MES, Farakka Barrage Project, Border Roads Organization, Central Water and Power Research Station, Quality Assurance Directorate (Navy and NTRO), not exceeding 30 years.
  • For Junior Engineers (Civil and Mechanical) in CWC and CPWD up to 32 years.
  • Permissible relaxation of upper age limit as per government orders are as indicated below:

10 Central Govt. Civilian Employees ( OBC ) who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date.  8 (5 +3) years
11 Central Govt. Civilian Employees ( SC/ST ) who have rendered not less than 3 years regular and continuous service as on closing date. 10(5+5) years
12  Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir( Unreserved/General )    5 years
13 Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir( OBC )  8 years
14 Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir( SC/ST)  10 years
15 Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof (Unreserved/General )  5 years
16  Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof (OBC )  8 (5+3) years
17  Defence Personnel disabled in operation during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed  area and released as a consequence thereof (SC/ST)  10 (5+5) years

Minimum Essential Educational Qualifications:

Three years Diploma in Engineering (Electrical or
Mechanical) from a recognised University or
Institute.
Desirable
Two years working
experience in the field of
Electrical or Mechanical Engineering in the area
of construction in
monitoring and executive
 of projects.
 4.  (a) Junior Engineer (Civil), MES (b) Junior Engineer (Electrical &
Mechanical), MES 

(c)Junior Engineer(QS&C) MES

Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised
University
OR
I)Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering from a
recognised Institute or University or Board; and(II) Two years experience in Planning, Execution and Maintenance of Civil Engineering works.Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a
recognised University;Or(I) Three years diploma in Electrical or Mechanical
Engineering from a
 recognised Institute or University
or Board; and
(II) Two years experience in Planning, Execution and
Maintenance of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
works.
(i)3 years Diploma in Civil engineering from a
recognised institute/University/Board or equivalent;
OR
(ii) Passed Intermediate examination in Building and
Quantity Surveying Sub Divisional -II of the institute
of Surveyors (India).
5. Junior Engineer (Civil &
Mechanical), CWC and Farakka
Barrage. 
Degree or Diploma in Civil or Mechanical
Engineering from a
recognised University or
Institution

  • Note-I: Candidates who have not acquired/will not acquire the educational qualification will not be eligible and need not apply.
  • Note-II: ExS who have done various courses from Forces which are certified by competent Authority to be equivalent to Diploma in Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering are eligible to appear in the Examination.
