IBPS SO Results – Calculation Process

Raw Score
The score in IBPS SO Preliminary Examination is calculated on the basis of raw marks.  Raw scores are the marks obtained by the candidate in the primary stage.  The IBPS SO exam consists of questions giving 1 mark each.  0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.
For example, a candidate attempts a total of 80 questions in the preliminary examination.  Among them, there are 12 incorrect answers.  In this case, the raw score will be calculated as follows:
  80 – 12 – (1/4 * 12)
  80 – 12 – 3 = 65
Here, 65 is the raw score.
Final Score
The final score is calculated as a combined score.  The score calculation is based on the candidate’s score (out of 100 marks) in Mains and the marks obtained (out of 100 marks) in the interview round.  The weightage of marks awarded to IBPS SO mains and interview is calculated after an 80:20 ratio.
The marks obtained by the candidates in the Mains exam (out of 100) are converted into 80 marks.  Similarly, the marks obtained in interview rounds are converted to 20 marks.  Finally, the IBPS SO cut-off score for provisional allocation is calculated from a total of 100 marks (Mains score 80 + interview score out of 20) (80:20) and the elimination of inter-to-merit (relationship) birth date.
Formula

Total score for final allocation = {[marks obtained in Mains Examination / 100] x 80} + {[Points obtained in Interview / 100] x 20}

For example – if a candidate has scored 0 marks (out of 100) in Mains exam and 100 marks (out of 100) in interview, then the calculated allocation score will be:
 [(80/100) x80] + [(70/100) x 20]
 64 + 14 = 78
Here, 78 will be considered the final allocation score.

IBPS SO Results – Normalisation Process

The difficulty of IBPS SO question papers varies for each session.  The IBPS’s right to conduct the exam follows a normalization process to maintain fairness and equality among the examinees.  This process is established to compare the scores and qualifications of the test takers in different sessions.
The IBPS authority adopts the normalization process so that no candidate gets undue benefits.
The IBPS uses the equi-percentile technique to obtain the correct marks obtained by the candidates in the pre-mains and mains examination.  This is done through the normalization process for calculating IBPS SO result 2020.  The score is usually scored up to two decimal points to be counted.  The marks obtained will be considered to shortlist the candidates for the next round (mains and interview).
The IBPS has adopted a prefix formula to compute normalized digits.  This formula is also known as a generalized Marx calculator.

For Example

A candidate gets 142 marks in the first shift.
Average score of top 0.1% candidates in all sessions = 191
Sum of Mean and SD (cut-off) for all sessions = 131
Average score of top 0.1% candidates in first shift of the day = 185
Sum of Pisces and SD (which is basically the cut-off) for the first session of that particular day = 129
Normalisation marks = (60/56) (13) + 129 = 142.92

IBPS SO Results – Tie Breaking Rules

If two or more candidates achieve the same score in the IBPS SO result, the authority to select the candidate’s posts follows the rules given below –
Whoever gets the highest total marks in IBPS SO is ranked higher.
If there is still a tie, eligibility will be determined based on age criteria.  Simply put, older candidates will be placed on the basis of higher merit.

IBPS SO Result – Selection Process

The selection process for IBPS SO 2020 is based on 3 steps.
Online Preliminary Examination – The candidate has to appear in an online examination.  In the prelims exam, 150 MCQ type questions are asked.  Candidates have to qualify to answer all the questions in 2 hours and be selected for the next stage.
Online Main Examination – Candidates who qualify in the Prelims Exam are eligible to appear for the Main Examination.  The marks obtained in the main examination are considered for compiling the final result.
Round of Interview – Call letters for interview rounds are issued to the candidates who qualify in the IBPS SO Mains Examination.  Final merit is prepared on the basis of marks obtained in interview rounds and main examination.  The minimum qualifying marks required to pass this round is 40% for General / EWS candidates and 35% for SC / ST / OBC / PWD candidates.

What to do after IBPS SO Mains Result 2020?

The IBPS SO Mains exam results will be declared separately for each category.  If any candidate qualifies for IBPS SO Mains examination, a separate admit card is issued for the round of interview.  An advantage that IBPS provides to its eligible candidates is that the declared result of IBPS SO examination remains uncontrolled in any situation until the examination board finds a discrepancy.
The decision is taken and duly accepted by the Banking Personnel Selection Board and is considered a final decision.  After visiting the IBPS SO Mains result list page, farmers will get separate cut-off scores for General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS candidates.
Candidates who achieve the minimum cutoff score will be selected for professional interview.  Those who will be selected for the interview round will not be given their Mains exam score till the completion of the interview process.

Documents to produce IBPS SO results in interviews after 2020
