WB Police Constable Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
The candidate must be a citizen of India.
Age Limit
The applicant must not be less than 18 years old and must not be more than 27 years old as of January 1, 2022. The upper age limit is relaxed for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes as per the orders of the Government.
Educational Qualifications
The candidate must have qualified for the Madhyamik Examination from the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education or its equivalent.
Language & Other Eligibility
The candidate must be able to speak, read and write the Bengali Language, the provision will not be applicable to the applicants who are permanent residents of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts. For the applicants of hill sub-divisions of Darjeeling and Kalimpong Districts, the provisions are laid down in the West Bengal Official Language Act, 1961 (West Ben. Act XXIV of 1961) will be applicable.
Physical Efficiency Test Eligibility
The Minimum physical measurements for candidates are also given in the official notice. Here is a brief overview on Physical Efficiency as follows:
- Constable (Male):
Candidates of all categories: 167 (Height (Barefoot) (in cm.)), 57 Weight (in kg.), 78 cms Chest (without expansion), 83 cms Chest (with expansion – 5 cms.)
Gorkhas, Garhwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes: 160 (Height (Barefoot) (in cm.)), 53 Weight (in kg.), 76 cms Chest (without expansion), 81 cms Chest (with expansion – 5 cms.)
- Lady Constable:
Candidates of all categories: 160 (Height (Barefoot) (in cm.)), 49 Weight (in kg.)
Gorkhas, Garhwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes: 152 (Height (Barefoot) (in cm.)), 45 Weight (in kg.)
