Gauri Amma Award : Cuba’s Elida Guevara, Honored With The First ‘KR Gouri Amma National Award’

The award will be presented to Dr. Elida by the Chief Minister of Kerala on January 5 at the Olympia Hall of the Chandrasekaran Nair Stadium. The award carries a citation and $3,000.

The jury members of the award included CPM Politburo member MA Baby, MP Binoy Viswam and PC Bina Kumari of KR Gauri Amma Foundation. This award was started in the memory of KR Gauri Amma.

Who is Elida Guevara?

Dr. Elida Guevara is a Cuban human rights activist who runs two homes for children with disabilities in Cuba. Along with this, it also operates two centers for refugee children facing domestic problems.

Dr. Elida is also an active member of the Cuban Medical Mission that works to improve the health profile of children in Latin America.

Apart from rehabilitating disabled children, she also strives to provide debt relief to developing countries. He has been honored for giving importance to his efforts.

He is a doctor at the William Solar Children’s Hospital in Havana. He has also worked as a physician in Angola, Ecuador and Nicaragua. He was born on 24 November 1960 in Havana, the capital of Cuba.

KR Gauri Amma was one of the most prominent leaders of the leftist movement in India. He was also an Indian politician and the first Revenue Minister of the state of Kerala.

She was the second longest serving legislator in the Kerala Legislative Assembly and also the last surviving member of the first Kerala government.
